I've Lost My Mojo and Newsletter Sneaker Peekers

Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Hi Everyone,

That day again... Newsletter day...

This is a working picture of Sasha's Hanging Sewing Tools Organizer... gosh I love those fabrics. This is perfect for those of us that are horizontal surface challenged.

This is Sally's Simple BowTie Quilt. I am in love with this one and think she needs to send it to me LOL Just kidding Sally don't really do that.... I will be there in October to pick it up in person LOL

So if you don't want to miss these and those adorable projects I showed from Brooke (go say "hi" to her today it is her birthday) the other day, go sign up for the newsletter. (Upper right corner of the blog.)

I just started sponsoring this blog. Maureen is a super designer and has so many fun projects on her blog I know you will enjoy her. You might have seen her pillow project in the latest Fat Quarterly. Today she shared another super fun tutorial for an upcycled pillow. Honestly go look you will enjoy it.

I've lost my sewing mojo... Do you ever have one of those sewing days? Yeah I know you do... I had one yesterday nothing I did came out right.... my Kindle cover tutorial is going to be a few days late because the original model was fine but I wanted it to be a little bigger and the bigger model became this:

After spending 5 frustrating hours on this yesterday I didn't have enough time to write my tutorial. So if you give me until Monday I promise I will have it posted here on the blog... it might not be blue to match Sally's pillow from last month's newsletter anymore but .... here is to getting my Mojo back :)

Have a super Wednesday!

Talk soon....

Lots of new stuff....

Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Hi Everyone,

It is always so exciting to meet new sales reps for companies that you haven't worked with before. I had that pleasure last night as I met with my rep for Northcott and Windham. These two companies are ones that I previously had not really considered. Why you ask? Because they have always been primarily traditional fabric companies so I expected them to not have a lot to offer to a primarily modern fabric shop... well of course I started changing my mind after seeing and purchasing Echo a few weeks ago from Windham. It is pretty exciting that so many of the companies have started to add modern designs to their portfolios. Wow! I talk to much. Let's look at the pretty pictures....

These are from Piccadilly Circle from Northcott so pretty!

These are Groovin' from Northcott

This is Petal Pushers from Windham.

I will add this all to the website today then give you links tomorrow so you can go see all of the prints.

Newsletter comes out tomorrow there will be at least 3 new tutorials in it so sign up now if you haven't signed up before. You can find the link for signing up at the top right hand side of the page. I know I have some new followers that might not know about the Newsletter. I only send it out once a month and it has all kinds of fun projects in it and not a lot of trying to sell you stuff. It is just for fun and I get to bring you fun projects from friends far and wide.

Talk soon,

Friday Fun Day, Sale it Again Sam, and The Giveaway

Friday, August 26, 2011
Hi Everyone,

I feel like I have been so buried over here that I have hardly come up for air. Here is the fun part for Friday:

This is an art canvas similar to the ones that I make. I did not make this but you can make it with this super tutorial over here Video Tutorial from The Scarlet Lime. So for all of you that ask me how I do it this is a pretty good idea of how it goes.

I finished my mug rug for the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap and shipped it off yesterday:

Ain't she cute?

Sale It Again Sam: Had such a good time (and cleared off so much shelf space) last weekend that I decided to do it again. So us this coupon code for 20% off this weekend (even on the supre low discounted already stuff) starting as soon as I finish this post (and go over to put the coupon code in) and ending Sunday night at midnight. Here is the code: SIAS20

The Hostess Half Dozen giveaway for the week is being hosted by my friend Jana she picked some pretty Promenade for you:

So go over there and enter to win yourself some.

I have been working all week to get the new web shop open. So that you don't have to use Etsy and convo me everytime you want a different yardage. It is coming along but it is going to take a bit more time. Etsy changed the way they do searches so I am having to go and change every listing to make it work for the new search... 22 pages each page takes about 45 minutes it is grueling. So if I am a tiny bit quiet that is why.

I hit 500 followers while I was away this weekend and I will be hitting my 300th post in the next week or so. You know around here that can only mean one thing.... PARTY (with lots of goody bags) stay tuned for that.

Now it is time to get out of my jammies and get started on the day.

Okay on to the really important stuff... the giveaway for this week. This week my friend Jackie will be hosting my giveaway. She chose 6 Taza fabrics "The Hostess' Half Dozen" for you to receive FQs of. They look something like this:

So go over to her blog and enter to win some of this yumminess. Click any of the links to get there or here :)

Tomorrow I will be making a very short post... seriously less than 10 words probably but you won't want to miss it. ... just sayin'.

Talk Soon.

Wanted: Guinea Pigs... and more new fabric.

Thursday, August 18, 2011
Hi Everyone,

First the eye candy:

These are from Rendezvous by Khristian A. Howell for Anthology... it was the Damask that did me in. I know some people are saying they are tired of teal and red... but this is oh so different and sophisticated. Click here to see the whole collection. (be sure to click the thumbnails for full size pictures these are gorgeous)

This is The Woodlands again by Khristian A. Howell for Anthology. Amazing diversity. I love the teeny bit of Japenese style these have. You can see the whole collection here.

Now about the Guinea Pig part. I am looking for a few people to help test a new software for me. I am going to branch out into a regular online shop (not Etsy) so that it is easier to order yardage and shipping is calculated more efficiently etc. I will still have the Etsy shop too this will be in addition. I don't want to launch it and have customers be frustrated if it doesn't work properly though. So I need people that like to dig around check all of the pages see if they can break it or what needs fixing, check spelling (Sasha) etc. So if you would like to volunteer I would like to get started testing on Monday. Leave a comment if you want to help me out.

Giveaways: Don't forget to go back to last Thursdays post and enter the two giveaways they both end tonight at midnight. Tomorrow I will have a new giveaway hosted by my friend Jackie so come on back y'all.

Where did Tuesday go?

Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Hi Everyone,

I can tell you where my Tuesday went... I woke up this morning thinking it was Tuesday because yesterday (the real Tuesday) went straight to the dogs first thing. I had a migraine that made me sick (yes, that kind of sick) so the rest of the day pretty much got away from me. The one thing I did yesterday was ordered more fabric... I mean what is a fabri-holic to do right?
This is Moroccan Mirage by Khristian A. Howell ... I also bought her other two collections that are coming this fall I will show you peeks at those tomorrow. This one is supposed to come this month. I am in love with it... what do you think?
I love new small fabric companies. They are so easy to work with. Some of the bigger ones that have been around a while are much more difficult to get a hold of and get started with.

Happy Monday

Monday, August 15, 2011
Hi Everyone,

What a weekend! No time for sewing but maybe today. I can hope right? Take a look at the adorable mug rug Sasha made with some scraps I sent her:

hexagon mug rug - front
Totally love it!

Here is the beginnings of the mug rug for my partner in the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap:

Through the Viewmaster Mug Rug Sneak Peek
It is actually past this stage already sewn together just have to quilt it and bind it now.

What have you been sewing this summer? Inquiring minds want to know.

Congrats Tamie I will be emailing you in a moment for your particulars :)

So excited to tell you about a new line that I just ordered (will have it on the coming soon page by Sunday night) it is called Echo it is by Lotta Jansdotter I saw it on Ashley at Film In The Fridge's (seriously go look at her pictures) blog a week or two ago and just fell in love with it. The preview pics don't do it justice at all (that is why you have to go look at Ashley's) but here are a few of them:

So cannot wait for it to come in November... le sigh.

I have a new friend her name is Rae and she and her mother own a little company called ARMOMMY you can find them here. They have some super fun patterns and accessories. Here are just a few:

They are allowing me to give away a 20% off coupon in my next newsletter (you also get it if you make a purchase with me) So sweet of them. In the mean time go over and like them on Facebook (tell them I sent you) for a free tutorial download of this:

Fun fun stuff!

Friday Fun Day- Art Smock Tutorial and Y seams

Friday, August 12, 2011
Hi Everyone,

If you are looking for the Friday giveaway it can be found here on Thursday.

Last week I didn't have a tutorial for you from The Quilted Fish but wouldn't you know it Sally that sly girl had a surprise up her sleeve. So go check out her Laminate tutorial for a little girl's art smock:

Isn't her daughter the cutest thing?

Working my way through all of your requests for tutorials and one that is coming up a lot is Y seams. Honestly I could never do a better job than Kaye Wood at showing you a super simple way to do them. I figure why re-invent the wheel when she has a great video for you:

I was thinking of all of the reasons that I have ever used Y seams and this would work with all of them. So let me know if you need more after viewing this.

I will be working my way through the list and either bring you tutorials that are already out there (because as I said why reinvent the wheel) or make them myself. The Kindle holder is already in the works for the next newsletter (with instructions on changing the size for other sized readers) and if you haven't checked out my tutorials page there is a great (if I do say so myself) Ipad bag/carrier tutorial already there that I did for the Riley Blake blog.

Have fun this weekend. See you tomorrow with the winner of last weeks giveaway.
